Windows 11 adds Intel APX support
Microsoft has added official support for Intel's Advanced Performance Extensions with Windows 11 Insider Build 29695.

The latest Windows 11 Insider Build 29695 includes official support for Intel's Advanced Performance Extensions (APX). The feature is accessed through a hidden option in the Developer settings, although it currently has no effect on existing hardware as no consumer CPUs implement APX yet.
APX aims to improve CPU performance by doubling general-purpose registers from 16 to 32 and introducing new instructions such as PUSH2 and POP2. Intel first announced APX in July 2023, with architecture specification version 9 published in August 2026.
