AMD has announced an AMD Overclocking Driver (AOD) for its Ryzen processors, enabling advanced power and performance controls via the Linux kernel. The driver was first posted to the platform-driver-x86 mailing list on October 21, 2026.

The AOD driver exposes system file entries that allow users to adjust Package Power Tracking (PPT), Thermal Design Current (TDC), and Electrical Design Current (EDC) limits. It also provides visibility into current memory clocks and the ability to toggle Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT).

Currently, there is no official user-space GUI for AOD; community developers are expected to build utilities to interact with the driver's features.
