Micron Predicts Tight Memory Supply Through 2028
Micron CEO forecasts supply constraints for memory and storage through 2028.

Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra announced that memory and storage demand conditions will be much tighter in 2027/2028. Most of Micron’s 2027 supply has already been reserved by customers, leaving little availability for others.
The company plans to increase its memory supply but does not expect DRAM supply to exceed demand in the near future. Micron forecasts low-20s percentage growth for industry DRAM bit shipments during 2027 and 2028 while remaining supply-constrained.
NAND supply constraints are expected to persist, with enterprise SSDs, AI context storage, and HDD-replacement workloads absorbing capacity in 2027/2028. New cleanroom facilities will take until late 2028 or later to produce significant output.
